About Martin
A working musician who happens to be a wonderful teacher.
Martin Aucoin
PIANO TEACHER
Martin is a veteran of the Toronto and Nashville music scenes, performing with the likes of Juno Award winners Jack De Keyser and Morgan Davis, BJ Thomas, The Lincolns and too many others to mention. Prior to joining the Leaside Music School, Martin graduated with honours from the Humber Jazz program and established himself as a professional pianist and keyboardist and go to man for studio work and live performances. The man knows his piano and how to teach it.
Martin Aucoin has a wealth of experience performing piano and keyboard combined with extensive theory study. This Toronto piano teacher can take a student through the RCM levels and guide beginner and advanced students through playing exercise and songs in a variety of styles. Jazz and blues piano are his specialties, but don't be surprised if Martin brings a classical etude to work on.
Martin has played keyboards in numerous country and R&B bands around Toronto, including Morgan Davis, and Jack DeKeyzer, and has spent time in Nashville recording and performing. He has toured with BJ Thomas and played on recording sessions for George Strait, Garth Brooks, Confederate Railroad, and John Michael Montgomery. Martin has played live with Larry Carlton, Tony Joe White, Bo Diddley, Ricky Van Shelton, Alan Jackson, Alex Harvey, the Drifters, Mark O'Connor, as well as having a 4 year gig at the Grand Ole Opry with Jimmy C. Newman, the great Cajun singer.
Alongside this impressive list of performance credits, Martin has received accolades for his own recorded works, including a nomination for his jazz/blues album "So Far" at the 2008 East Coast Music Awards. Martin's work on the Johnny Max Band album "A Lesson I've Learned", a mixture of Muscle Shoals and New Orleans type grooves, earned the band a nomination for the 2008 Juno Awards and nominations for Songwriter and Producer of the year at the 2008 Maple Blues awards
