DRUMS
Tim has been drumming for 31 years starting as a marching drummer in Cadets and later playing in his older brothers band gigging at the young age of 12. Now he gigs regularly with pop/dance, classic rock and modern rock cover bands. He has also played with KC Roberts in jazz trio playing the restaurant circuit, played percussion with the award winning Latin Alternative band Plan C and played with violinist Dr. Draw. With these and other acts he has been on stage at the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Beaches Jazz Festival, Aboriginal Peoples Choice Awards, Milwaukee Pride Festival and has opened for such acts as Cindy Lauper, The Grandmothers of Invention (formerly of Frank Zappa), Teenage Head and Great White.
In 2006 Tim graduated with a Bachelor of Music from Humber College and Thompson Rivers Open University where he studied drums with Paul Delong. His approach to teaching the drums incorporates professional gig preparation with learning necessary techniques to give any student at any level a solid foundation in drumming while enjoying the fun of playing music in the process.
GUITAR
Tim Stokes-Rees began playing the drums at the age of 9, has played guitar since the age of 14 and has been playing professionally for approximately 20 years. After starting with a pop cover band in the 80's, he has played in countless groups of different genres including rock, metal/punk, jazz, latin-alternative, hip-hop and dance. He studied jazz at Humber College where he completed his Bachelor of Music through an affiliated program with Thompson Rivers Open University. He has shared the stage with Cyndi Lauper, The Grandmothers of Invention (former band of Frank Zappa), Teenage Head and has played dozens of festivals such as the Montreal Jazz Festival, Beaches Jazz Festival, and the North Country Fair. He has also appeared on the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Awards show that was televised for APTN in 2009. Most recently he has been playing with Dr. Draw, The Johnnys and various working cover bands. He has been teaching for 18 years and has developed his own teaching style. The objective of his program is to make the learning experience enjoyable for both the casual and the serious student while the aim is to achieve the highest level of proficiency the student is capable of.
